A flood of SMS
Each language has its challenges. Here, certain special characters in Spanish would have SMS break up too early, causing high costs and annoying users.
I reviewed the SMS in question and found them being not only too long, but also far too technical. The same was true for English and French, so I decided to give all those SMS a makeover.
Short and sweet
Talking to the product managers and engineers helped to pin down when exactly the SMS were triggered, and why.
With this context, I was able to:
Shorten all SMS by around 30% in average.
Rephrase them using simple and clear language.
Reduce the amount of special characters to a minimum.
Find a satisfying solution for both our Spanish customer as well as Ridecell.
With this project, we cut down our monthly costs for SMS by $4,000 - and this only for one language!
