Ridecell Meeting Room Names

Rooms (1).png

Challenge:
Confusing meeting room names that no one can remember (room 4 building 2…).

Solution:
Design a naming system that is fun and connects to the company’s mission and vision.

Approach:
> Ran brainstorming session to come up with possible naming systems.
> Defined and developed the new naming system.
> Designed and wrote landing pages for each room, accessible by scanning a barcode next to the room signs.

Mobility in Gotham

Sometimes you get do these fun little side projects that might not help your customers navigate your products, but your colleagues navigate the office.

The new meeting room names was such a project. We came up with the theme of fictional cities from literature, film, comics and legend. I chose a broad range of cities to make sure that everyone could identify, from Batman’s Gotham to King’s Landing in Westeros.

To connect this theme with the company’s mission, I teamed up with a designer and created a unique landing page for each meeting room with:

  • some info on the city’s background, full of little hints for the nerds

  • a description of the kind of new mobility service the city had introduced, incl. pricing
(Try to come up with a good pricing system for Atlantis! I finally settled for shells and gold coins from sunken ships...)

To get to the pages, people simply need to scan the barcode on the meeting room sign. Waiting to get into a room suddenly became a lot more fun and it also is a nice jest when having external customers at the office for a meeting.
